This is one haunting song by Abida Parveen that I loved instantly…her powerful voice just mesmerizes you and Muzaffar Ali’ s music is out of this world. The song is penned by eminent lyricists Ahmed Faraz & Akhtar Sheerani and the lyrics are touching to say the least!

This man ‘Muzaffar Ali‘ is all class, and his creations are exceptionally good. Umrao Jaan (The one with Rekha & M.D. Khayaam) was directed by him, so you know what I mean! This album is penned by the lyricists (shaayars) from both the countries – viz. India & Pakistan and it promotes love & peace in these countries as Paigham ‘E’ Mohabbat.

As for this particular song, ‘O des se aane wale bata‘, it narrates feelings of a poet who is staying away from his motherland is asking a visitor from his country about his beloved country and getting nostalgic about all the places, friends in his country and wonders if all the life there is still the same. And you could relate to every single word of the poetry (it’s much more that a plain lyric, it’s shaayari at its best by Ahmed Faraz & Akhtar Sheerani) if you belong to any of these countries and know their history. You could sense & relate to the pain of separation from one’s beloved place (not necessarily country) and nostalgic longing for those places, people and way of living. No wonder it’s quite a big hit with non-resident Indians (NRIs).

The song gets over and still her voice & those words keep resonating in your mind… You have to listen to the original CD – just too good!!!

When I first listened to this song, I was completely smitten by it and must have played it 20-25 times in a single day. It was just ‘out-of-this-world’ experience and I still get the same feeling whenever I listen to it. I wonder who is most impressive here – whether it’s Abida for her powerhouse performance or Muzaffar Ali for his awesome tune & concept or the shaayars for writing those amazing words! I don’t bother analyzing all this, it is absolutely divine to experience ‘that one song‘!
