This is one song that has haunted ever since I heard it the first time while watching that movie. Though I didn’t like the movie much – it was great idea/story but I think it was handled rather superficially/immaturely. Though it was brilliantly performed by all the actors – KK and Chitrangada were just too good. Anyway! This Song is outstanding though – just out of this world. Shubha Mudgal also has sung this song in her powerful vocals; but I like Swanand Kirkire’s version a lot more. It has certain transcendental haunting tonal quality to his voice that can only be experienced, cannot be explained!

I almost made its cassette play 20-22 times at a stretch before it finally gave up in my cassette deck. I vividly remember how desperately I was looking for ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ CD in all music stores and after days of search finally I got the CD in Music World. Remember how excited I was after finally getting that CD.

This one song itself made me big fan of this man called “Swanand Kirkire”; and I had never heard about him before. When I learnt that he himself wrote the lyrics as well, I was more than impressed. In fact, he’s better known as a lyricist these days, but the man is really versatile and an amazing singer with his own distinct, unique & haunting voice.

The lyrics are about crazy mind and crazy dreams…theme that is so close to my heart and love the way that deep voice comes from within… A song that I can completely relate to, a song that simply takes over me…a song that is in class of its own! This song flows in simple words…yet so effective & touching….and Swanand’s soulful voice does full justice to his own words, not to forget awesome tune by Shantanu! The song talks about dreams, aspirations of a crazy mind; and yearns for a crazy companion in the sane crowd. I just love these lines –

Don’t you want to find that special someone to find sanity in your craziness? Just to hold your hand and be there….just to believe in your dreams; no matter how crazy they may seem to the sane world… This song is an anthem for all those crazy dreamers…
